Heard about this place a lot on Instagram so as usual it was a must visit but of course with life commitments you tend to call in on it months are your initial thought of visiting! We got there 10 minutes to 8am on Saturday (because that's when they open) so of course the place was empty except for the staff which was great coz we got to choose a prime position to sit! I did not realise that the Kitchen was part of the Koskela warehouse where the owners Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkosky produce "Australian furniture that is beautiful, functional and durable" (taken from their website) .... will you look at that you learn something new everyday! We ordered the Sourdough pancakes with Lemon Curd $14, Big Breakfast $20 and Eggs benedict/royale $13. Everything was back to basics, you order at the counter then take a number and a seat and they bring it out to you. In addition, to the usual breakfast menu they also have pastries/cakes on offer if you are not quite hungry. The cutlery was in an old tomato tin tub which added the rustic look, food was served in tin plates like the kind you take camping. Food was sensational! My eggs benedict came on a bun and all the sauce and the egg oozed out goodness! I scraped the plate...literally! Pancakes were divine. After we had finished breakfast we waiting around till 9am as that was the time Koskela opened so we could peruse the designs. Families and groups are welcome here, Great way to start the weekend! Address details can be found here: weebly Heard about this place on Instagram but haven't had a chance to visit until now! Hooray! First we went to the wrong end of Dixon St, stupid iPhone map! Finally reached it after refreshing the maps app. Place feels like your in a lab with the staff in lab coats and all the smoke from the liquid nitrogen coming out of the food processors. Line wasn't too long, we ordered the Ferraro Revival and Strawberry, Rosewater Meringue Pie. $8 each Ah YUM! I loved the rosewater flavored meringue on top my refreshing strawberry ice cream. The Ferraro revival comes with a chocolate syringe and a wafer! Brilliant! Love this place! Address is: 43/1 Dixon St, Sydney Last day of November and it was the day we finally got to meet Kevin Bacon, Bradley and all the other animals that are residents at the The Grounds. Weather was overcast and sprinkling to start but that did not deter us. Arrived about 8.40 am and parking was scarce but eventually found a spot. Since having a foot injury i rarely like to walk far even though i should be grateful! Anywho the place was packed when we got there, so we had to get a buzzer and wait 30 minutes, which was ample time for my niece to visit Kevin bacon and his friends. It's quite a large area with different carts placed all over the grounds. There's the lemonade stand, the fresh fruit cart, pastry cart and a kids play area. By the time out buzzer beeped we were both starving! To start i got the Super green juice which no amount of convincing would make my niece try it! We got the breakfast platter to share which consisted of 2 poached eggs, 2 x toast, smoked ham, diced tomatoes, feta with pesto and avocado. Clean eating to the max! Finished off with hot chocolate and a cappuccino. Overall it was well worth the wait, sadly i did not get to visit Salt meets Cheese. Alas gives me an excuse to visit again soon! Here's to breaking Sydney's cafes, restaurants and places to interest one weekend at a time! Address can be found here: weebly This stuff is the breakfast of Champions. Alongside oats :P I generally run out of fresh strawberries, so recently bought some frozen ones so i can have them on hand when i feel like something pink! It was delectable! Definitely makes you remember that summer is just round the corner where there will be hot summer days and warm nights. Lately I have been trying to cut down on the junk food and focusing more on food to fuel my body instead of what my mind wants (e.g. chocolate and other unnecessary junk). So here's to summer, Can't hardly wait! Recipe can be found here weebly |
