The Vic is located on the corner of Addison & Enmore Rd, Marrickville. From the outside its looks like an old school pub and it is. The front area is where the main locals chill. However, towards the kitchen and outdoor courtyard it is filled with a younger crowd. A dog friendly pub that even has a basketball court!
Stopped by for dinner with a few foodie friends to sample their weekly specials menu. To start we got the share board of warm olives with house pickled veg, manchengo and roasted garlic with Parmesan brushed baguette. Loved everything on this platter and its a decent serving. For mains we ordered the Potato gnocchi Pork Ragu, the crispy chicken and prosciutto salad, the crumbed fish burger and The Vic Pie with roast chicken and veg. Who would of thought you would get a great pasta dish from the pub! I like how Chef Kirsten has taken a hold of the rains and introduced some interesting yet flavoursome items to the menu. For dessert we got the chocolate brownie and the berry & almond tart! Wow! The brownie was insane, so full and rick of chocolate yet not too overwhelming! I got to sample all the dishes and my favourites were The Vic pie, crispy chicken salad and the brownie. I hear they change their specials every week, pending how popular they are they become a staple on the menu. I do hope my favourites stay as i would love to come back again and indulge in that amazing chocolate brownie.

E-SUSHI!
Located off the busy Military rd in Neutral Bay. This Japanese restaurant is part of the samurai group. They use a touch screen pad for the inside tables and a normal menu for the outdoor tables. To start we got a few specials including the pork belly bao and the deep fried sole fish, then onto some grilled salmon and by this stage our bellies were getting full! So we opted to get 2 small desserts which was the banana split and the green tea cake roll. Overall, good food with lots of flavour. If you visit do try and get a seat inside because its pretty fun to order off the menu. Shinya who is the host and his staff are friendly and happy to help you choose items off the menu if you are stuck. Have heard good things about the burgers here! Arrived around 9pm and was told kitchen was closed! Noooooo!
The lovely bartender took pity on us and said if we ordered right then and there it should be ok! Of course we picked the most delicious thing on the menu! Blame Canada is 200g of wagyu patty, American cheddar cheese, maple glazed streaky bacon, poutine and maple aioli!! Holy Fricken Moly!! This shiz is one of the best burgers I've ever had! (Insert joke ) The beef was so juicy, the cheese gooey and that sauce! Hot dam I was in burger heaven! Soo savoury with a hint of sweet! This burger is at the top my list! (Prob better than Mary's! Gasp.) Blame Canada and Bar Luca you have top shelf on my food mantlepiece! This is a must visit if you consider yourself a burger connoisseur JAPANESE TAPAS STYLE - HAI!
This is one of those places that you go past and always think its pretty cool but never get the chance to stop by because your're always in a hurry to get somewhere. Love the decor with the Japanese signs and wood panels, it makes you feel like your're in Japan! Got an invitation from Yuri of Washouku lovers to try this cool venue under the guidance of Chef Takuma. This place is known for their tapas style menu dish items to share among friends and with sake of course! We sat at the bar so we could see a bit of the action in the kitchen plus you get to order off their electronic menu which is pretty neat. They have a huge selection of cocktails, mocktails, beers and sake! There is a lady with a sake cart (yes sake) who comes around to offer you a taste of the various sakes they. This is the best way to trial them out so you know what you like and don't like. All the dishes we had Tuna nigiri, pork belly with teriyaki sauce, mentai chicken with teriyaki sauce, seaweed salad, pork & kimchi fried rice and the deep fried prawn roll! Everything was quite fresh and delectable! Staff are pleasant and very happy to help you decide on which dishes are the go to for the mood you're in. Will indeed be back here as its a great spot for dinner if you are in the area to watch a movie or if you're going out later for drinks. If not then this is a good place for a date ;)
This cute little cafe locked in Rydalmere just of Victoria Rd. With indoor and outdoor seating options, this place can get busy pretty quickly.
The menu has a lot of different options to suit even those picky eaters. I have tried the Goats on toast (warm french goats cheese with drizzled honey & organic nuts on sourdough), the ricotta pancakes and the Shakshuka (which i don't think is on the menu anymore). All dishes have always been delightful! Staff are friendly and more than happy to assist you when you're unsure on which tasty dish to get. Coffee is good too! For those coffee experts they serve Campos. If you are in the area or passing through try and stop by to sample something from their well curated menu. Try not to go on Tuesday's because they are closed. I tend to forget this as I've rocked up on more than one occasion on a Tuesday to see their closed doors :(. Noooooooooooooooo. Great food, coffee and atmosphere! YUM CHA! YUM CHA! YUM CHA!
Feels good doesn't it to yell it out 3 times. I have been here on numerous occasions and it has always been consistent. When it comes to yum cha, consistency is key. I mean you always get the same things every time you go, well I do and the group I go with. Yum cha has always been a good ailment for hang overs. Whether its the prawn dumplings or the freshly steamed greens to the salt & pepper calamari all these items seem to make you feel better. Marigold has 2 levels (Level 4 & 5). I would suggest to go to Level 5 as its bigger but the trolleys seem to come around more. Price wise between a group it always seems to workout between the $25 - $35 mark which is pretty cheap considering the amount of dishes you get. Good tasty Yum Cha can sometimes be hard to find but at Marigold you won't be disappointed. (Unless you can't get a hold of the waiter from some drinks then this means you need to yell louder!) Self Serve Japanese - Say Whaaaaat?!
Have walked past this centre many times but didn't realise there was a ramen place right near the cinemas! This is a great spot to get some quick din dins before the movies! Got an invite to try some good ole Ramen by Yuri from Washouku Lovers. What is this you say? Washouku Lovers is a benefits card that is free just by signing up - Go get yourself one, i mean who doesn't love freebies!). By showing our card we got a free drink of apple cider (non-alcoholic of course). For food we got the Curry & Beef with Sobu noodles and my partner got the Tonkotsu delux with udon. You need to walk around the left of the shop front to order near the drinks station, they will either give you your ramen there or at the end of the line, grab yourself a tray and pick any hot toppings you like - options include gyoza, tempura items and then walk on down to the cold section of the self serve to get your kimchi, seawood salad, sweets etc then once all done pay at the register. Go sit and enjoy your meal. To be honest i have never been to a self serve ramen restaurant before and it was interesting. I like how you can choose what you want but then this could also be a bad thing as you may end up with many side dishes that don't get eaten. Overall, good first visit and yes i will be back, the prices are pretty cheap! A big thank you to Yuri for inviting me to try it out :)
A celebration Dinner! I have graduated! Hoorah! Finally!
So to celebrate we decided to visit the Best Restaurant of the Year 2015...dun dun duhhhh it is ACME! This restaurant is from the same guys who brought you The Passage. For some reason I thought this place may be cartoon based but alas its a different ACME not the one I used to watch Saturday mornings when i was a kid :D To start i got the Blood Orange – Braulio, Prosseco, Sage Cocktail, came with a lot of ice so it felt like a spritzer! It was tasty! Lasted me the whole night and probably because i had to drive i could only have one! Everything is meant to be shared on their menu and all items are small portions, so be warned! All dishes were shared amongst 3 people. Items we ordered for entree & main were: ~Baloney Sandwich ~Burrata, tomato jam, toast ~Linguine, black garlic, burnt chilli ~Rye malloreddus, cherry tomatoes, pesto ~Spaghetti, pippies, bottarga And of course for dessert they only have 3 options so we ordered them all! All $10 each ~salted caramel swirl, cookie, ice magic ~Coconut rice cream, white Chocolate ~Pine nut ice cream, rhubarb, cereal Highlights were the Burrata, Linguine & Spaghetti and from the desserts the Coconut rice cream & Pine nut. Our booking was from 6.30pm and by the time we left at 8.30 the place was packed! It would be best to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Overall, had a great first time visit and would certainty go back!
KFC!!! KFC!! KFC!!
By day its a cafe & car wash, By night its a Korean Restaurant - with KFC!! Korean fried chicken for those that don't know ;D Did not know this place existed until a foodie friend recommended we come here for dinner. It's a weird feeling walking up to car wash and no cars there just the restaurant. Between six people we ordered : 1/2 fried chicken, 1/2 sweet spicy fried chicken 1/2 soy sauce & garlic fried chicken 1 x Seafood pancake 1 x Soy beef ribs stew The pancake was nice and crispy and had a good amount of filling. The Chicken! OMG! Delicious KFC. The sweet spicy was not at all spicy so for those that cant handle chilli this is great but for those that want something uber spicy this is not that. Soy sauce & garlic was damn fine too! The Beef ribs stew was nice to warm us up - the beef sooo tender! It's nice to see the Parramatta area getting new places to eat - especially fried chicken! Reasonable prices too. Will definitely be back!
Situated between Via Napoli and Hunters Hill Hotel this trendy little cafe is a winner.
Arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. They have tables out the front near of the shop and round the side in the arcade as well as inside. There is a large communal table or you can seat along the wall. Staff are friendly and efficient, as soon as we sat down we got water and menus. I ordered the Dukka chicken $22.50 (Dukka encrusted chicken with quinoa, kale, sweet potato, cherry tomatoes and cabbage) and my niece ordered the junior jaffles with ham & cheese $6.50 the other option was the Nutella and banana but because she was also getting an Oreo shake i think the Ham would of been better suited. The chicken was amazing! It is quite a filling dish and it took me a while to finish it because i wanted to eat it all! The Oreo shake was also tasty but full on. I would suggest if you want to get a shake to get it with a small portion of food because it is quite a generous serving. Alas there were no dogs to pat that afternoon but Loved my first time experience and I will be back! |
